 Mrs George on Bronze Award.

I first got involved with the Duke of Edinburgh in year 9 of secondary school when my friends and I felt that we’d like to do something fun that would also add to our C.V.s in the future, as taking on the different aspects definitely added to my skills.  I was able to attend Canterbury Fire Station and learn new skills on a dance course. All of these were done with my friends and more than anything I built up strong bonds with them as well as making new friends in new environments.

This continued in the expeditions, in my opinion the best part of The Award. We trekked over muddy fields, got lost, put up tents, cooked and chatted all night. Finally I was allowed some freedom to build up my responsibilities and used this knowledge to further my education and career.

It was definitely a rewarding experience and I’d recommend anyone to get involved and drag along some friends, you’ll never forget it.

Mrs L. George.
