We are delighted to welcome you to the College’s school website.  I hope the website is a useful tool to understand the College’s ethos and culture as well as providing useful information regarding the subjects within the Athena College.

Who is Athena?

The College is named after the greek Goddess Athena. 

The College includes the support of:

Mrs S Gough- Director of College

Mrs Gough is the Director of College and has overall responsibility for the running of Athena College.

Mr Brigg’s- Director of Learning

Mr. Briggs is the College’s Director of Learning.  He is concerned with Athena’s pupil progress, helping to track and monitor students with the help of targeted mentoring.  Mr. Briggs has a few words to say by means of introduction;

Dear all,
I am delighted to have this opportunity to introduce myself. Many of you will already know me from P.E. and also in my role a Head of Year for many years. I will be involved in monitoring the students’ progress in Athena. Within the College I am looking to reward excellent work practices and behaviour, as well as providing support for those who may be finding things difficult with their academic studies. This will also involve feeding back information to carers at home once discussions have taken place with students.

Mrs Lamb - Pastoral Support Manager

Mrs Lamb is the College’s Pastoral Support Manager.  She is concerned with pupil’s well being and monitors pupils behaviour and helps keep the uniform in line. 

What is the Athena College’s Mission?

The Athena College will aim to develop an individual learner who is creative and motivated.  We aim to help learners become confident and expressive enough to sometimes take risks with the support of their peers and staff.
