BYOT stands for Bring Your Own Technology, the idea is that pupils use the technology they already own to enhance their learning experience. The concept has come from the fact that the improvements in technology move so quickly that schools are always using technology which is out of date.
Earlier this year we investigated a laptop scheme for the school. In the time we had investigated and decided on the spec of the computer PC world were offering a better laptop for £200 less than we were going to propose. We could not, in all consciousness promote a laptop to our parents which was not good value.
I am very interested in your thoughts on this subject, would it make it harder for you or easier? Would you be happy for your child to use the technology they are carrying in their pockets and bags to enhance their education or would you be against it?
Students, would you like the opportunity to use your Phones/Ipods/Laptops/Netbooks/Tablets in lessons? What problem’s could you foresee? I have already spoken to the Police about asset marking to increase security.
Here is a newspaper article from America on this very subject
