Green Donation from Town & Country Cleaners LTD

Town & Country Cleaners have donated a genorous sum of £500 to the Chaucer Sustainable Development Fund to help kick start or in house recycling project. Peter Thompson at Town & Country were so impressed with our green ideas that they have decided to help us invest in being a more sutainable school.

The aim is that we recycle a certain percentage of our waste paper in school and turn it into a useful resource of shredded paper for the wider school and local community.

All pupils will be involved in this active recycling project in school so watch this space......

Target!

Chaucer is finally using on average 13% less electricity than this time last year and we aim to reduce more.

How have we done it?

Simply by implementing a policy of switching off when not in use.

It has been a long 6 / 7 months but finally we are seeing results!

Now we just have to continue stongly in this vein and work on reducing paper and other waste.

Water waste will be another target too.

Get your thinking caps on and offer your ideas after all this is what the forum is all about.

Finally, don't forget to keep up with the peer pressure on litter - we really need to reduce this too!

Assisi wins the Green Cup

Mr Sauntry has picked up the Green Cup on behalf of the Assisi Colllege for their consistency in switching off all PC's, lights and overheads at the end of the school day. Assisi was also noted for it's regular recycling throughout the college but have admitted they would like to reduce their use of paper in lessons.

Curie also gets a special mention for it's limited use of paper in lessons thus low printing & photocopying costs - but they do have to continue to work on switching off in order to win the Green Cup at the end of the autumn term!
